Dear Parents:

Welcome back to a new school year! I want to take this opportunity to welcome new staff and new families into our school community. Mrs. Richards is our new music teacher, Mrs. Lewis is a Pre-K teacher, and Mr. Connor is going to be student teaching in the second grade for the fall semester. Mrs. Richards has her biography on the website. Mrs. Hartmann will be sending home information about Mr. Connor. He was a graduate of SJS and has fond memories of his time here.

It has been a wonderful start to the year thanks to many people who helped get the school ready for the opening day. Thank you to Father Chip for his support for the renovations, Mrs. Valzania for being here this summer getting the word out to families, and the H.S.A. who purchased the Science equipment for the lab. The H.S.A. was also responsible for the purchase of the mulch for both playground areas. The H.S.A. is the Home School Association. Peter Brady and his ministry and the following SJS families were here to help spread the mulch so that it was ready for the opening day. Thank you to the Capanna, DeSantis, Ferrara, Koritko, Ovanessian, McGinniss, Robinson, and Woods families for their help with this project.

Please continue the routine for drop off. As a reminder the doors are open at 8:00 a.m. and the children can be dropped off in the back of the school till 8:20 a.m. After 8:20 a.m. the children need to be dropped off in the front of the school because the buses start to drop off in the back of the school.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through some changes.

School Happenings:

The students will be attending Mass tomorrow for First Friday and the start of the school year. They are expected to dress nicely if their uniforms have not arrived.

We will be welcoming our Pre-K students next week. The staff has been working to be sure that the classrooms are ready for the first day. The Pre-K children will enter in the back of the school building and will be able to walk right into their new classroom.

The art room is now in the old science room space and the students are enjoying this room to work on their first projects. Mrs. Gavel has been working to transform the room into a creative learning environment.

Father Chip wanted me to inform our parents that the children are invited to attend the 9:00a.m. Mass on Sundays as this will be a Children's Mass. The CCD classes will be using the school on Sundays from 9-12 and 6-8:30 p.m. Please do not enter the school during this time as we need to respect the religious education program. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Reminders: Plan Ahead:

No school next week on Monday, Labor Day, September 6th and Thursday, September 9th.

Meet the Teachers/Open House will be on Tuesday, September 14th @ 7:00 p.m.
