Press Release
Saint Joseph School- Brookfield, CT -- 50 Golden Years of Quality Catholic Education

Change is good. Saint Joseph School in Brookfield, CT can attest to that. Much has changed in the world since the school first opened in 1958 to provide quality Catholic education to the young, but excellence in education remains the school's mission. Saint Joseph School is a 2008 nominee for the Blue Ribbon Award in Education placing the school in the top 10% of private and public schools in the nation. Since 2005, Saint Joseph junior high students have achieved award status at the regional and state levels in science. The student at Saint Joseph School today has state of the art technology for use in their daily classes, such as lap top computers and SMART board equipment. Science technology is enhanced with molecular microscopes, microscopes equipped with cameras for use with computers, and other various lab equipment. A new science room is presently in the works.

While new technology has been incorporated into the academic curriculum, the solid foundations that have been the benchmark of Catholic education are still present. Students are provided a strong base curriculum of Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Other subjects, such as Social Studies, Art, Music, Spanish, Religion and Physical Education are assigned to complete the student's educational studies.

Athletic teams, such as basketball, cheerleading, and track and field, offer students an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the sport, strengthen friendships and promote a sense of school spirit among families.

As we offer a faith-based education, the moral development of the child, along with the academic and athletic development is also important. From school community service activities to participating in the liturgy of the Mass, our students are formed in the gospel values.

Our Pre-School offers a two-day morning program for 3 year olds and a three-day morning program for 4 year olds with an option of an extended day. Knowing that for most young children this is their first school experience, a safe and nurturing environment is provided. The Pre-School shares the many benefits of being housed within the school building through its participation in gym, computer, music, and library programs and having access to a full time school nurse.

Saint Joseph School provides quality education from Pre-School through Eighth grade. A Diocese of Bridgeport school, we admit students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
