SJS Physical Ed Update
May 21, 2010
Dear St. Joseph School Families:
I cannot believe that the year is coming to an end! In the past few weeks we have covered hockey and baseball, and some classes are even already finished with their end of the year fitness assessments. They say, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” I had a lot of fun this year and I hope your children did as well. Just as important, I know they learned something. I’ve watched them all grow and have truly enjoyed each and every one of them. St. Joseph School is a special place and your children have been a pleasure to teach.
That being said, we still have the best part of the physical education curriculum to come. On June 21 from 9am until noon, we are going to have an “Ocean of Fun Field Day.” On this day, I will put the students into mixed grade level teams and each team will work together as they play several different ocean themed physical education games. In order to have a successful field day, I need some help. I am looking for parents to help me set up the games as well as monitor them. I also need 2 plastic baby pools and someone to manage the filling of 100+ water balloons. (Filling the balloons can be done at home and you can bring them in the morning of the 21st.)
Volunteering for this event will give you the opportunity to see how special it is to be a physical education teacher at St. Joseph School. Volunteers will have the opportunity to see the K-7 students (8th Grade will have graduated) working together, laughing, running, jumping, playing and cheering as one. It really is something wonderful to see. If you are able to help out with the event please e-mail me
or you may also call me at 203-938-3921.
Sincerely,
Shannon Craley
